Goals: Develop ,integrate and test the mobile and portable data collecting and transfer technologies to enhance the effectiveness of the emergency response vehicle and emergency medicine provider. 'Meaningful medical data' will be collected once and be transferred to different agencies and care providers in seamless way to remove the redundancy in data collection process.

Methods: The proposed system will enhance the effectiveness of the emergency response vehicle by use of wireless and portable data collection technologies. The system will improve the data collection and handling in the field. Some of the methods employed will be

1- Use of voice recognition technology for better integration of devices with paramedic workflow

2- Use of Tablet PC, Laptops and other handheld devices for data collection

3- Use of WAN (2.5G, 3G) , LAN (WI-FI) and Bluetooth technology in data transfer in different stages of prehospital care

4-Use of RFID to maintain the inventory of required resources on ambulance.

5-Installation and integration of Live Communication Server (LCS) in prehospital environment to to facilitate SIP based exchange between different units and ED.

In essence, we want to create test bed that can serve  as a laboratory  for mobile telemedicine technologies. This test bed consists of an enhanced ambulance vehicle and enhanced professional devices used by EMS providers.
